Northern Queen Inn Nestled in the heart of California’s Gold Country in Nevada City is the Northern Queen Inn, Trolley Junction Restaurant, Nevada County Traction Co. and the Northern Queen Gardens. The resort is a family owned operation and they first started development in 1976. The Ramey family has been conscious of the natural attributes of the property and have incorporated it’s natural beauty in every expansion of the Inn. The centerpiece of the property is a natural running waterfall and Gold Run creek originating from an underground mine. The Inn has forty five units including standard rooms, cabins and chalets. The cabins are located in the woods with a separate bedroom, full bath, efficiency kitchen, living room, wood burning stove, private deck and BBQ. The chalets are two story with a loft bedroom and full bath, on the ground level they are equipped with a full kitchen, quarter bath, wet bar, living room (living room has a trundle bed) private deck and BBQ. The chalets hold up to four guests per unit. Amenities for the Inn are: a full service restaurant on site Trolley Junction, a heated year round pool and spa, free Wi-Fi, a business center and coin laundry. The grounds are beautiful for strolling and it is a short walk into quaint downtown Nevada City. The Trolley Junction Restaurant overlooks the beautiful waterfall. The grounds are perfect for wedding ceremonies and the restaurant facilities can accommodate wedding receptions, all types of banquets and meetings. Trolley Junction is open daily for breakfast and lunch and also serves dinner Thursday- Sunday. The restaurant menu includes Eggs Benedict, Omelet’s, our famous Monte Cristo Sandwich, Gourmet Salads, Sandwiches and daily specials, dinner specialties include Prime Rib, Steaks, Seafood and Pasta. The Northern Queen Gardens are seasonal grounds that are rented for private parties, weddings and events of all kinds. The Gardens are a “do-it yourself “location for up to 400 guests. The Garden’s has ample parking, paved walkways lined with flowers, fountains, Koi pond, a raised location for wedding ceremonies, modern rest rooms and flowers, flowers and more flowers. The Nevada County Traction Co. preserved a piece of local history by installing are own Narrow Gauge Railroad on the grounds to commemorate the original 22 mile long Narrow Gauge railroad that ran from Nevada City to Colfax in 1874-1876. Over the years the Ramey family donated land to the local Railroad Museum and has owned and maintained many historic railroad cars including Engine #5 which was featured in over 200 movies and TV programs by Universal Studios.
